Boston University’s acting program is where artistic rigor meets the best-and next practices emerging in the theatre industry. Built on BU School of Theatre’s Progressive Studio Model, the program is a process-driven, person-centered, professionally-focused artistic sequence of courses, experiences, and opportunities.
BU School of Theatre’s acting program focuses on essential tools, the development of artistic voice, and challenging individual work toward ever-increasing levels of awareness, imagination, and expression. During each year of the Bachelor of Fine Arts program, courses in the major follow a carefully integrated sequence of class exercises and production assignments. Additionally, the School of Theatre provides for artist-scholars and scholar-artists to experience all the opportunities of a Research 1 university as they deepen their knowledge of foundational techniques within the art form.
BU School of Theatre alumni are part of a dynamic community of arts innovators. Upon graduating with a BFA in acting, graduates obtain jobs on and off Broadway, from devised ensemble to producing groundbreaking new works; working in the television and film industry; and pursuing arts leadership opportunities as artist-activists, playwrights, and scholars.
BFA Acting program prepares students for careers in the professional world of theatre, film, and television. It focuses on the development of imagination, intellect, and acting technique, allowing students to create an array of roles in varying styles.
