How to Apply

Dana Hall enrolls intelligent, enthusiastic students who are fascinated by the world around them. Who are always asking why, want to know how and are eager to determine what's next. If that's who you are, apply to Dana Hall!

Our application is comprehensive, and our evaluation process is highly individualized. The Dana Hall Admission Committee practices a holistic and context-based approach that considers each student’s achievements and successes in relation to their individual circumstances. We want to know who you are and what makes you who you are. As we do, we'll share with you how Dana Hall can support your academic and extracurricular aspirations. When you commit to this process, you will learn so much about yourself and what truly matters to you. We look forward to getting to know you through this journey, too. Follow the steps below and contact the Admission Office with any questions along the way.

Application Steps

Step 1: Submit Inquiry

Complete our online Inquiry Form to join our admission mailing list. When you inquire, you'll have the option to create an account in Ravenna, which is Dana Hall's web-based application platform. Once you have your Ravenna account, it's easy for us to stay in touch and for you to track and manage your application progress.

Step 2: Start Application in Ravenna

Ravenna is our web-based application system. Follow the steps in Ravenna to complete the application requirements. You will also be able to submit and request recommendations, register for events, schedule your interview, track your application status and view your decision.

Make sure to create your account using a parent/guardian email address that you will have access to throughout the admission season, as this will be your primary email contact with our School.

HERE'S HOW:

If you already set up an account and profile during the inquiry process, log in using your unique credentials, and skip to step 5.

1. Go to Ravenna and select "Create an Account."
2. Enter a parent/guardian name, parent/guardian email address, and password.
3. Check your parent/guardian email for a verification email.
4. Click the link in your email to complete your Ravenna profile.
5. Click the green "Apply" button and follow the prompts to begin the application process to Dana Hall. Once you have created your account and started your application to Dana Hall, you will see a detailed list of application steps and requirements, and can begin submitting application materials.

Step 3: Schedule Interview

An interview is a required step in the application process. You must have a Ravenna account and have started your Dana Hall application in Ravenna in order to schedule your interview.

Our campus visit includes a tour of the campus with a current student, a one-on-one interview between the applicant and admission counselor, as well as time for parents/guardians to speak with an admission counselor. Additionally, applicants will complete a writing exercise on the day of their interview. The entire visit will last approximately two hours. We offer virtual interviews for those families unable to visit campus.

Applications are only considered complete after all application materials are received and an interview is completed. Applicants who schedule their interview and submit their applications by January 15 will receive decision notifications on March 10. Late applicants will be considered on a rolling admission basis after April 10, depending on space availability.

Step 4: Complete Dana Hall Application Forms

All application forms should be completed and submitted online through Ravenna by the January 15 deadline. There are three Dana Hall forms available in Ravenna that must be completed by the student and family.

Step 5: Request Recommendations and Transcripts

All academic records and recommendation forms should be sent to Dana Hall by the applicant's current school and teachers by January 15.

Request academic transcripts from your current school either using the Transcript Release form in Ravenna or using your current school's preferred process.

After getting approval from teachers, delegate the recommendation forms online through Ravenna. Note: Dana Hall has shared recommendation forms with other Boston-area schools using Ravenna.

Step 6: Testing

All applicants are required to submit SSAT, ISEE, or other school testing (such as state-administered exams, ERBs, or MAP testing) taken within the last calendar year. Dana Hall School believes that testing alone is not a determining factor for admission, and practices a holistic and context-based approach that considers student performance and success relative to their individual circumstances. If you’ve taken a test other than the ones listed above, and would like to confirm that it meets our testing requirement, please contact the Admission Office.

All scores must be received by January 15 for a complete application and a March 10 decision. Official scores should be sent directly from testing agencies or current schools. Please use the following test codes to designate Dana Hall School as an official score report recipient:

ISEE: 222275
SSAT: 2728

Please note that Dana Hall does not offer an ESL program and therefore requires students to be highly proficient in speaking, listening, writing and reading the English language. All applicants who do not speak English as a first language are required to submit a TOEFL or Duolingo score.

To designate Dana Hall as an official score report recipient for TOEFL, use the following testing code: 7507.
