JVC receiver channel cutting out

I have a JVC R-S5 receiver and it has a couple of intermittent problems. Occasionally, the left channel cuts out. Its easily corrected by turning up the volume. Sometimes changing the source also brings it back. There is also a static sound when using the volume. I have used a contact cleaner on the volume pot and it helped the static sound somewhat but its still there.

I've got the R-S11, and it was a pain to get the static out of the controls in it. You need to use Deoxit D5 followed by Faderlube F5 to really get the controls smooth. You really need to work the deoxit into the controls. Shoot some in there and work the slider through its full range about 25 times. Wait for the deoxit to dry a little (15 minutes) before plugging in and powering up again. Pay special attention to the tape monitor switch, they cause dropouts all the time.

Thanks, will do. I did work in some De-oxit into most of the controls but it looks like I'll need to do it again. I'm using the tape monitor loop for my SAE-2000 click/pop noise reducer so I'll give that extra attention.

I also seem to be have an offset in the far ends of the dial for the FM tuner. Maybe 1/4 to 1/2" out from where it should be, any thoughts?
